Cecil wanted to give back to the community that helped him prosper. We have spent many hours working on Cecil III and feel it is well worth some of your hard- earned cash. So If you decide to keep Cecil III, please consider a donation to a worthy charity of $10, or give some of your time.
My personal favorite is the Salvation Army. As you Christmas shop this year, stop and give $10 to a Salvation Army "bell ringer" on the way out of the shopping mall. Your scheme will be magically registered.
Please note: I do expect you to donate $10 to your favorite charity. Starving students should make a donation of time. Donations of old clothes, furniture, etc. are also terrific. Remove this scheme from your hard drive if you choose not to.
Minimum Requirements:
Kaleidoscope 2.0
8-bit grayscale or 16-bit color monitor
Recommended:
Kaleidoscope 2.1.1
Mac OS 8.5
24 bit color monitor
What's New in this 2.1.1 fix:
I have fixed the masking problem with the inactive titled utility window and replaced a few faulty pixels. (I hate it when one pixel burns out and you lose the whole string.) The Readme file and Internet Bookmark have been updated with the new webpage location. Finally, new buttons have been added so anyone downloading this will think they haven't wasted their time.
Got a dark Desktop Picture you'd like to use with Cecil III? Go to the website and download "The Patch."
What's New in 2.1.1:
First, so there's no confusion, the version number of the scheme is the same as the version of Kaleidoscope it was designed for.
I have revamped about 90% of the resources in this scheme. The original version was drawn entirely in ResEdit. (I'm old fashioned.) To take advantage of the new 32-bit icons in Mac OS 8.5, this scheme was overhauled in Adobe Photoshop under the strict supervision of my cat, Hannah.
If you have not upgraded to Mac OS 8.5, or if your monitor is not capable of at least 16 bit color, I recommend you leave this scheme alone. It is designed to display properly only at 24-bit color and may look ratty elsewise.
What's next:
You may have noticed a lack of "Extras" in this release. I am busy reworking many old resources and sorting new-- all will be posted on my webpages as they are finished.
As to the next update of the scheme: I plan to tweak and fix the many problems with the 32-bit icons just as soon as someone codes a decent 32-bit icon editor.

History:
The Cecil Scheme took shape while I was working on an update to a Scheme called 'Evil Breakfast GreyScale.' My pet dragon, Cecil, hated the Scheme, calling it "boring grey and blue crap." (Dragons, contrary to popular belief, are often ineloquent and rude.)
Cecil began coding a companion to EB GreyScale, which he named "Cecil." (Dragons are also vain.) The EB GreyScale was completely overhauled, renamed "1984" and is no longer boring crap.
Many revisions and several clawed up keyboards later, Cecil (the Scheme) underwent so major a transformation we decided to change its name to 'the Revenge.'
Then came Kaleidoscope 2...
K2 allows for greater color control and unusual window shapes. Cecil and I began coding right away. Within a week we had a workable version of Cecil III for the Kaleidoscope Scheme Archive. Within two weeks we were not speaking to each other again.
Grab Tabs®:
Cecil III makes use of Grab Tabs®. Grab Tabs® are fun. They're good looking. They're more useful to me than Llamas! And Grab Tabs® are included free with this scheme, while sadly, Llamas are not. Next time you're moving and resizing a window, try using the Grab Tab® at the bottom of the window frame. Now wasn't that easy?
Remember, if the Readme doesn't say Grab Tabs®, it's not the real thing!
I make no warranties, written or implied or even hinted at, that this software will change your life for the better. Improper use of this software may result in serious injury or death. Please consult the directions that came with Kaleidoscope before using.
Cecil III: Final Consequence and its associated icons copyright 1998, Geoffrey Hamilton. It may be distributed to BBS's, friends, co- workers, software archives and convenience store clerks in its original, unmodified .sit format.
Those wishing to distribute via CD-ROM, please email for permission and the latest update.
